IT’S the country where they fell in love.

So no wonder Harry and Meghan looked thrilled to be spending Valentine’s Day in Canada.

The couple headed for an Italian meal after hitting the slopes during their first public appearance since their royal rebrand.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in the ski resort of Whistler in British Columbia for a three-day trip from California to highlight next year’s Invictus Games, which will involve winter sports for the first time.

Harry, 39, tried out some of the sports the disabled athletes – who have all served in the military – will be taking part in.

He was followed by a film crew as he had a go at sit-skiing. In a candid moment, a giddy Meghan, 42, was seen recording her husband’s attempts with another man’s phone, after he told the duchess he was not allowed to record Harry.

Laughing, Meghan then turned to the man and says ‘oh you have to show them’ as she handed his phone back.

Before setting off on his sit-skiing adventure, father of two Harry joked: ‘Do I need to sign a waiver?’

Afterwards a group serenaded the couple with a rendition of God Save The King.

The pair later dined at Il Caminetto, an upscale Italian restaurant in Whistler, with Meghan wearing a red overcoat for Valentine’s Day – and matching red Valentino clutch.

The couple did not appear fazed by the row over their new Sussex.com website.

There have been accusations that they have breached an agreement with the late Queen not to use their HRH titles for business purposes or trade off their royal connections.

A source close to the couple has defended the use of their titles, saying: ‘Prince Harry and Meghan are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. That is a fact. It is their surname and family name.’ The Whistler trip is their first public appearance as a couple since King Charles’s cancer diagnosis.

Harry flew to Britain alone last Tuesday to see his father.

Once there, he was taken to Clarence House to meet the King. Their meeting lasted around 45 minutes and did not include his stepmother Camilla. The duke then spent the night in a hotel before catching a flight back to Los Angeles less than 24 hours after arriving.

The couple’s children, Archie, four, and Lilibet, two, appear to have stayed at home in Montecito while they are in Canada.
