Time to refresh your lawn

Four-step process makes it healthier and more lush

-

ARECORD number of storms have hit the UK at the start of this year, creating challenging conditions for lawns. One result of these evershifting weather patterns has been a surge in unwanted grass species, thatch build-up, moss invasion, compacted soil and other issues affecting the overall well-being and appearance of many lawns. With more settled spring weather just around the corner, GreenThumb — the UK’s leading lawn treatment service — is launching its newest option, Lawn Refresh. Rather than being a complete makeover and re-turfing exercise, Lawn Refresh steps in when your lawn is worn out but not beyond redemption.

If your grass is displaying signs of wear and tear, overrun by persistent weeds, or plagued by moss, Lawn Refresh can help make it look healthier, thicker and lusher.

It consists of a four-step process that can usually be completed in a day. The first stage is Deep Scarification to remove any thatch and moss. A second stage, Aeration, will reduce compaction and allow air, water and nutrients back into the root zone — a key part of the rejuvenation process. GreenThumb’s bespoke grass seed — a blend called Diamond Green that includes Perennial Rye and Fescue species chosen specifically for our changeable climate — is then added to replace the poor grass. Finally, the lawn is given a Top Dressing using GreenThumb’s 100 per cent recycled, organic green waste material that contains levels of nutrients to encourage seed development.

The four-part Lawn Refresh is a cost-effective and hassle-free alternative to adding tons of new top soil and re-turfing. It is designed to bring lawns back to life so that they can be enjoyed this spring and summer, when we all look forward to being out in the garden more often.
