The One Day lovers ... out with their REAL other halves

- By Molly Clayton Showbusiness Correspondent

THEIR on- screen chemistry has captured viewers’ hearts.

And the stars of Netflix’s adaptation of David Nicholls’s novel One Day appear to be just as swept away by their real-life partners.

Ambika Mod, 29, who plays Emma Morley in the love story spanning 20 years, looked relaxed and contented when she was spotted this weekend with her boyfriend, fellow actor Andy Sellers, as they walked their dog Todd.

Leo Woodall, 27, who plays Dexter Mayhew in the hit romance, is also dating someone from the film industry – American star Meghann Fahy, 33, who appeared with him in the hit US comedy drama The White Lotus. It is thought they have been together since that series began filming in Sicily in early 2022.

One Day follows Emma and Dexter after they meet on their final night at Edinburgh University and over the next 20 years of their lives on the same date, July 15.

The graduates become integral to each other’s lives but a series of ‘will they won’t

‘They have formed a close bond’

they’ moments and other obstacles are placed in the path of lasting romance.

Ms Mod and Woodall were cast in the show because of their immediate connection and they have since formed a ‘close bond’ and friendship.

But Ms Mod only had eyes for Sellers when they were seen on a dog walk in their local park. After letting Todd off the lead for a runaround, they wrapped their arms around each other, apparently deep in conversation.

The couple are set to star in five-part thriller series Playdate. It began filming last summer, but its release date on Disney+ is still to be determined.

Sellers is an up-and-coming actor who has just finished filming Young Woman And The Sea, a movie starring Stephen Graham and Lily James.

Ms Mod is set to become a household name, having previously starred in the BBC drama series based on Adam Kay’s hospital memoir This Is Going To Hurt.

The Mail revealed how Ms Mod originally turned down the role of Emma because she found it a ‘massive, massive undertaking’ given the character was played by Anne Hathaway in a 2011 film adaptation.

She said: ‘It was definitely originally written as white and previously played by a white actress. I’m really excited to bring something new to the role. I hope that young women who don’t see themselves on screen that often see that it’s possible.’

Ms Mod said she believed she wouldn’t have landed the role ten years ago due to her skin colour, saying: ‘I’m very different to Anne Hathaway, so I was never worried about that. Just the fact that I’m not white and I’m getting to play Emma. I don’t think that would have happened ten years ago.’ Woodall has the leading role in the forthcoming Apple TV series Prime Target, whose executive producer is Sir Ridley Scott.

In White Lotus, he didn’t appear in any scenes with Ms Fahy, but that didn’t stop their romance blossoming.

In the show, Ms Fahy plays a wealthy stay-at-home wife Daphne Sullivan, while Woodall plays Jack, the supposed nephew of a rich expat, Quentin, who is played by Tom Hollander, 56.

As rumours of a romance swirled, the couple were photographed together at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards ceremony in London last July. Then, in November, they were snapped kissing on the streets of New York.
