Son, 22, accused of killing mother at £1million home

- By Claire Duffin

A SON has been accused of stabbing his mother to death at their £1million village home.

Gregor Bauld, 22, is charged with murder and possession of a knife following the death of his mother, 55-yearold Tina Bauld.

She was found dead on Sunday morning at her home in Burbage, Leicestershire, where she lived with her company executive husband Tom, 69, and their son.

Bauld appeared at Leicester magistrates’ court yesterday, where he was remanded in custody to appear at the city’s crown court today. Police were called to the four- bedroom detached house at 11.20am on Sunday.

Detectives have said it was an ‘isolated incident’ and they are not looking for anyone else. A neighbour described how a forensic tent was erected in the street and how Mrs Bauld’s husband was seen with his ‘head in his hands’.

The neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: ‘ It’s Tina. Her poor old husband Tom has lost his wife. He came up with his head in his hands, it was horrific. I couldn’t believe it.

‘She was the most smiley, loveliest woman that you could wish to meet. Always smiling, always upbeat, her glass was always full to the top. She was absolutely lovely.’

She added: ‘ They’ve got a boat, they go skiing every year. It’s absolutely horrific.’

And another neighbour, Rachel Lord, described Mrs Bauld as a ‘beautiful lady, inside and out’.

A cordon remained at the home yesterday, while forensic examinations continued. Detectives from East Midlands Special Operation

Unit are investigating and Leicestershire Police said a postmortem examination will take place in due course.

A spokesman said it was ‘ an extremely difficult time’ for the family, adding: ‘Specialist officers are supporting them.’

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Mark Parish appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. He added: ‘I appreciate that the nature of the incident may cause some concern among residents in the area.

‘However, I would like to reassure them this is an isolated incident, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with it.’ In 2012, Mrs Bauld spoke to her local newspaper after thieves stole the spare tyre from her Range Rover while she was parked outside a supermarket.

She had gone with her son, then aged ten, to pick up her parents from the railway station.

She returned to the car to find two men taking the spare wheel from the chassis. They sped off swearing at her as she arrived, leaving her ‘shaking with anger’.
