Meghan ‘ hunting for a PR guru as she prepares for relaunch in UK’
THE Duchess of Sussex is looking to hire a PR guru to promote her image in Britain, the Mail understands.
Meghan is said to be searching for someone to assist with building positive publicity for herself and Archewell, the foundation she runs with Prince Harry.
The move comes after claims that the Duke of Sussex could return to royal duties were roundly dismissed. Speculation ran rife last month when The Times claimed he is willing to return to a ‘temporary royal role’ to support his father during his illness.
But well-placed sources stressed the King is ‘firmly of the opinion’ that there is no way back for the Duke of Sussex as a working royal ‘in any way, shape or form’.
A source told the Mail: ‘The Royal Family is looking short-staffed and quite elderly. The Sussexes have a popularity problem and can see there is an opportunity to step in to fill a vacuum over here with their own work.’
However one senior PR executive questioned whether anyone in the industry would be prepared to work for the outspoken couple.
They said: ‘Many will turn it down. Representing the couple in the UK is a tantalising thought but they don’t have a reputation for listening to advice. What would be the point?’
The couple, who live in Montecito, Los Angeles, have faced a downturn in the popularity in their adopted country.
Harry is set to return to Britain for a St Paul’s Cathedral service celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games in May. Meghan has not visited the UK since September 2022.
The couple have continued to engage in charitable activity through their Archewell Foundation, last night publishing a report into the portrayal of mothers in television.
Created ahead of International Women’s Day today, the report calls on the industry to ‘more fully develop the characterisation of motherhood’.
Meghan said: ‘My past experience as an actress, and now today as a producer and mother, have amplified my belief in the critical importance of supporting women and moms both behind the lens and in front of it.
The Archewell Foundation, a nonprofit organisation, was co-founded by the duke and duchess in 2020.
Last month, the couple launched their new website Sussex.com.
