STRAIGHT TO THE POINT

-

WE BOOKED flights to and from Ireland with different airlines via Booking.com for October last year. My brother-in-law passed away shortly before this and we received a refund for the outward flight. The airline for the return flight also agreed to a refund if we did it via Booking.com, but I can’t get through to them.

G.O., via email. BOOkInG.cOm apologises for the delay, although it says you did not contact it directly. It has issued your refund of £97.19. A FORTNIGHT ago, my daughter sent me a parcel for my birthday. Despite paying £9.45 for guaranteed tracking with Royal Mail, the parcel has not arrived.

A.D., Somerset.

The Royal mail attempts to deliver all parcels twice and if the recipient is not in, it leaves a ‘something for you card’. It located the parcel and has redelivered it to you.

I ORDERED 500 litres of home heating oil from online marketplace Boiler Juice. I was told the fuel would arrive two days later, but two deliveries failed, as the delivery company claimed my gate was locked, which was not true. I’m now £51.99 out of pocket.

R.W., via email. Boiler Juice says its suppliers can charge £40 when they are unable to make a delivery. A non-refundable service charge is also applied to every order. It does not think you are due a refund.

I BOUGHT a mobility scooter from a thirdparty seller on an online marketplace for £1,600. On arrival, it was not the make or model I ordered. I asked the seller for a refund but he refused, as I had taken it out of the box. The marketplace won’t help.

Name supplied, via email. YOU’ve been refunded £1,600. The online marketplace has issued the seller a warning.
