PLAYER RATINGS

- By NATHAN SALT AT OLD TRAFFORD

ANDRE ONANA 7.5

Made several key stops and could do little about Liverpool’s three goals, two of which were deflected.

DIOGO DALOT 6

With Diaz and Robertson running at him, he was a non-entity going forward. Not comfortable up against either.

VICTOR LINDELOF 5.5 Found himself overloaded on countless occasions with Liverpool given so much space to counter-attack.

RAPHAEL VARANE 6 Has been United’s best defender in recent weeks but looked ragged here. Lost Salah for Liverpool’s second goal.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA 6 Started well in an unfamiliar left-back role but Liverpool soon overloaded that side. Among the first to be replaced.

SCOTT McTOMINAY 7.5 Scored his 10th goal of the season for club and country before providing the assist for Rashford to make it 3-3.

KOBBIE MAINOO 6.5 United’s best player in the first half, showing excellent footwork. After that he was left way too isolated.

ALEJANDRO GARNACHO 8.5 Clever movement led to United’s opener. A constant threat and key in the build-up to Antony and Diallo strikes.

BRUNO FERNANDES 6 Booked for dissent and fortunate not to see red when he clipped Szoboszlai. Finished the match at centre back.

MARCUS RASHFORD 7 Third time lucky after spurning two great chances. It’s been a tough season but he has never lost faith in himself.

RASMUS HOJLUND 5 Lots of excitement at his return but this was a rusty display from a player who has shown he can offer much more. SUBSTITUTES Antony 7 (for Hojlund, 71min) Maguire 7.5 (for Wan-Bissaka, 71) Eriksen 5.5 (for Mainoo, 80) Diallo 7 (for Varane, 85) Mount 6 (for Lindelof, 105)

ERIK TEN HAG 7.5 Under so much pressure but his substitutions changed the tie. referee:

JOHN BROOKS 6

CAOIMHIN KELLEHER 7 Made a brilliant save to deny Rashford early on and was a commanding presence when United were on top at the start.

JOE GOMEZ 6

Switched off for Garnacho’s clever inside run for United’s opener and looked the weakest link in the back four.

JARELL QUANSAH 7

Did well to drive into midfield for Liverpool’s first goal. Not overwhelmed by United’s fast start. Gem of a talent.

VIRGIL VAN DIJK 6.5 Calmed his team-mates at the start but was unable to stem the tide when Liverpool lost composure late on.

ANDREW ROBERTSON 6.5 Should have scored at 0-0. Major threat going forward nullified anything Dalot could offer going the other way.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER 6 Found his groove after an early booking but did not influence the second half. Scored for third consecutive game.

WATARU ENDO 6.5 Goes under the radar but is crucial to how Liverpool smother teams in midfield. Does a lot of the gritty work.

DOMINIK SZOBOSZLAI 5 Neat and tidy from the Hungarian but he was guilty of overthinking when it came to delivery in the final third.

MOHAMED SALAH 7

Thought he had scored the decisive goal but there was so much drama to follow after he went off. A puzzling substitution.

DARWIN NUNEZ 5 Frustrated his team-mates by dithering on the ball in extra time, then gave it away for Rashford to make it 3-3.

LUIS DIAZ 6 Full of running but lacked quality in the final third. Works hard when going back towards his own goal.

SUBSTITUTES

Elliott 7 (for Szoboszlai, 72min) Bradley 5 (for Robertson, 76) Gakpo 5 (for Salah, 77) Tsimikas 5 (for Gomez, 101) Clark (for Diaz, 114)

JURGEN KLOPP 6.5 Will be furious with his players who should have put tie to bed.
