Kane faces England scan
HARRy KANE will have a scan on his ankle today following an injury scare but will still report for England duty.
The Three Lions captain should be at St George’s Park tomorrow despite suffering a blow to his left ankle in Bayern Munich’s 5-2 win at Darmstadt on Saturday. Kane’s injury was being assessed yesterday. The 30-year-old will join up with his England team-mates as normal this week, though how much he will feature in the friendlies against Brazil and Belgium at Wembley depends on how the ankle responds to treatment. Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund said: ‘He will be looked at in England. He has trusted doctors there. We are in close co-ordination on this. Harry won’t take any risks.’ Bayern said in a statement: ‘The striker has still travelled to international duty and will be treated by the team doctors there, in close consultation with the Bayern medical department.’ Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel said: ‘He collided with the post and twisted his ankle a bit — he had his ankle iced. There’s still no diagnosis, we have to wait. I hope it’s nothing bad.’ England manager Gareth Southgate has seen his squad depleted by injuries and will be crossing his fingers that he can at least call upon his captain. The games against Brazil on Saturday and Belgium a week tomorrow are Southgate’s final opportunities to assess his players before naming his squad for this summer’s European Championship in Germany. Kane, England’s all-time leading scorer with 62 goals, notched his 31st Bundesliga goal of the season on Saturday.
