COCA-COLA has abandoned the launch of its tap water drink Dasani in Britain in a move which could cost more than £70 million. The brand was withdrawn after the company admitted samples were contaminat­ed. But it never shook off comparison­s with a plot in Only Fools and Horses, where Del Boy bottled mains water and sold it as Peckham spring.

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO, 48. The Ukrainian former boxer was a two-time world heavyweigh­t champion, won Olympic gold and enlisted in Ukraine’s reserve army ahead of the 2022 invasion. SIR ELTON JOHN, 77. The singer- songwriter from Middlesex has won two Oscars, five Grammys and five Brits. There is no one who still calls him by his birth name, reginald Dwight. He said: ‘reg is the unhappy part of my life. If my mother can call me Elton, then everybody else can.’

PAUL SCOTT ( 1920- 1978). The London-born author wrote 13 novels, including The Raj Quartet — which was adapted for TV as The Jewel In The Crown.

EILEEN FORD (1922-2014). The U. s. former model establishe­d Ford Models, which became the world’s biggest agency and represente­d Jane Fonda and Kim Basinger. she told those under 5ft 7in: ‘If you’re short you’re not going to model. That’s it.’
