He looked like husband material — and had hair too!

ALIDA, 55 VITAL STATISTICS

DIVORCED with two grown-up daughters, aged 18 and 21.

CURRENT ROLE

AN OFFICE administrator in a school.

WOULD LIKE TO MEET

SOMEONE funny, witty and flirty who wants to be in a relationship for keeps — and with a full head of hair.

DATING PAST?

I’ve been single for a year and a half since splitting with my partner of six years. Before that, I was married for 15 years.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

I dIdn’t feel too much pressure, no. It’s just about going out for a meal and meeting someone new, isn’t it?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

RoBeRt looked like a nice man, but I knew straight away that I didn’t fancy him. It’s hard to pinpoint why. After all, he was full of smiles and smartly dressed. He came across as ‘husbandly’, which is a good thing. And it’s always a bonus when a man has hair.

EASY TO TALK TO?

We cHAtted easily for more than three hours; I came away feeling we had the same values and there was nothing I didn’t like about him. We discussed our children, our jobs, the fact we both like cooking, tennis and walking.

I probably talked too much — I always do when I’m excited or nervous — but I don’t think I dominated the conversation.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

no, there were no awkward moments at all.

DID SPARKS FLY?

tHeRe was definite ‘banter’ to our chat and our eyes met the entire time, but I didn’t get any flirtatious feeling from him at all. that’s a shame because he is a lovely man — yet I simply didn’t fancy him. I can’t even say why, there was just no ‘spark’.

He might grow on me if we met again, though.

SEE HIM AGAIN?

I HAd a lovely time and I could have chatted to him for many more hours. I think as a prospective relationship it was always a non-starter, but I think he’d be nice to get to know as a friend maybe and see where it goes from there — it’s hard to say from just one date.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE THOUGHT OF YOU?

I’m ReAlly not sure. He didn’t give off many flirty vibes, so I’m not sure he fancied me.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY LIKE HIM?

my dAugHteRs would see he was more ‘ husband’ than ‘boyfriend’ material — the sort of nice, safe, dependable man I’m looking for.

 ?? ?? ALIDA’S VERDICT: 8/10
LIKED? The conversation, the food — it was lovely. REGRETS? None at all. COFFEE OR CAB? Coffee.
