STRAIGHT TO THE POINT

-

I BOOKED two nights at a Durham hotel in September through Booking.com. After making the reservation, I got an email confirming £110.88 had been paid. On arrival at the hotel, I was asked for £126.38 and told Booking.com would refund this. I had already paid. I’ve contacted its customer service without response.

BOOKING.COM apologises for the delay in processing your refund, which it says was due to invalid proof of payment. You have now provided the correct documents and your refund should be with you soon.

MY PETROL cap was damaged when I went to refuel my car at a Morrisons filling station in December. The supermarket paid £166 for the repair and offered a £50 goodwill gesture. I don’t think this is enough for the hassle. Please help.

AS A gesture of goodwill morrisons has now added two £50 vouchers to your partner’s morrisons more card.

MY GRANDMOTHER sent me a parcel via Royal Mail but the person at her post office slightly mistyped my address. I’ve checked with neighbours but no one has it. I can’t reach my local depot to see if they have it . Can you find my parcel?

I.M., London.

ROYAL mail apologises and says the item was misdelivered. It will contact you to tell you how to submit a claim.

I SOLD a laptop for £350 on an online marketplace a few months ago. The buyer arranged for the courier and sent me postage labels and paperwork, so I sent it off. I then got an email from the marketplace to say the buyer wanted a refund as the parcel had not been delivered. I reported this as fraud, but have not had a refund.

D.B., via email.

PAYING for something then claiming it never arrived to get a refund or replacement is a common scam. I contacted the marketplace to ask it to revisit the case. It has now reimbursed you £350.
