First beauty pageant for digital contestants only
THE contestants have all the looks, style and poise you’d expect from hopefuls in a beauty pageant.
These ladies, however, have one unique characteristic – they are all generated by artificial intelligence.
The digital creations are bidding to win the world’s first AI beauty pageant and take a share of £16,000 in prize money.
Four judges will decide which contestant scores the most for beauty and social media clout plus their creator’s skill using AI and generating cash online.
Continuing the theme, two of the panel choosing the Fanvue Miss AI pageant winners have also been made digitally.
Called Aitana Lopez and Emily Pelligrini, they each have hundreds of thousands of social media followers, although in reality it will be their creators doing the judging. To enter, competitors have to generate an image of a woman and answer a list of questions.
These range from the conventional – such as ‘how would you make the world a better place?’ – to technical details. Special attention will be paid to the eyes and hands, which can be tricky for digital image makers to get right.
Will Monange, co-founder of Fanvue, a subscription platform for AI creators, hopes the contest will ‘ become the Oscars’ of the hi-tech sector.
Thousands of entrants are expected which will be whittled down to ten – with the final three revealed at an online event next month.
The two human judges will be pageant historian Sally-Ann Fawcett and Andrew Bloch, Lord Sugar’s PR adviser.
The past year has seen an explosion in the availability of AI image generators.
This has opened up opportunities to cash in as companies pay for digital models to advertise their lines on social media.
Aitana Lopez can often be seen on Instagram posing in clothes from top brands such as Victoria’s Secret and Guess.
