Bezos fiancee’s film canned

-

SAY what you like about Jeff Bezos’s pneumatic fiancee Lauren Sanchez — and my goodness, people do — you could never accuse her of a lack of ambition. Ms Sanchez, 54, has recently been in the firing line in the media over the outfits she wore to the Oscars and to a White House dinner, which were more Kardashian than the Kardashians.

But beyond the glossy exterior, and aside from the warm glow of Jeff’s $195 billion fortune, over the summer of 2022 her production company, Adventure & Fellowship, started making its first feature film, a micro- budgeted £ 2 million thriller called The Golden Door. Ms Sanchez funded the movie herself.

The film, which included a cameo role for Bezos’s teen daughter by his first marriage, was hit by reports of a ‘chaotic’ working environment. The director of photography and assistant director both left. Then in November director Kellie Madison also departed. A report on entertainment news website Puck suggested Sanchez was an ‘infrequent and, to some, unwelcome presence on set’.

But sources close to Sanchez countered that she had loaned her jewellery to the actors, offered them the use of her helicopter for aerial shots and had shared her trailer with the other producers. They added that the shoot had involved ‘more drama than she was used to’. Sadly, we will never see what movie magic was conjured as the film has been shelved. Sanchez, a former newsreader, is to marry the Amazon founder later this year.
