Grief-stricken husband’s life ‘fallen apart’
DOTING mum Aysha Frade was on her way to meet her two children when she was mown down by the killer’s car and thrown under a tourist bus. Family said her husband John’s life had “completely fallen apart” after she died on the school run to pick up the girls, aged eight and 11. John was at work at the time and his cousin said: “I can’t even put into words how he’s feeling. “It’s a terrible thing to happen and you just don’t expect it to happen so close to home in this way.” Aysha, 43, was an administrator at independent sixth-form school DLD College in Westminster and the family lived in Notting Hill, West London. Former neighbour Patricia Scotland said: “You leave your kids, then pick them up – and this happens.” Neighbour Vigi Sawdon added: “If you can imagine one of the most upstanding members of society, that was her. She was a wonderful mother.” Aysha was British born and lived here all her life but spent most of her summers in Spain, where many of her family live. Yesterday at least 100 people attended a memorial for her in the Galician municipality of Betanzos and a minute’s silence was observed. Councillor Andres Hermida said the community was in “enormous pain” and shrouded in sadness. Aysha’s mother heard her daughter had died just days before she was due to have an operation. A friend said: “Aysha’s mum is quite poorly and this is going to be a tremendous blow.”
