- BY NEVIN FARRELL

A GRANDMOTHER told yesterday how her family fled their burning house after it was petrol bombed. Shauna Agnew, 50, was speaking as she cleaned up her home at Moat Road in Ballymena’s Harryville area. Police said the attack happened at 12.30am on Saturday. It was the second petrol bomb attack within a half-mile in 24 hours. Early on Friday a home at Alfred Street Place was petrol-bombed and four occupants were uninjured. In Ms Agnew’s home was partner Raymond Johnston, 51, plus grandkids Summer, seven, and four-year-old Matthew Bradbury. She said: “Luckily we were able to get down the stairs and the living room door was closed which was a good thing. “If it had been open the flames would probably have come up the stairs. “We had to get straight out of the house and I rung 999 straight away.” Ms Agnew added: “I am getting my house cleaned up. I am not moving. “We are just thankful nobody has been hurt.” A PSNI spokeswoman said a petrol bomb was thrown around 12.30am. She added: “A window in the house was smashed and scorch damage caused to the downstairs of the property.”
