Mole has nose for fast food
ONE of the strangest looking creatures on the planet eats faster than any other mammal, scientists claim. The star-nosed mole can identify and down its diet of bugs in less than twotenths of a second, taking just eight milliseconds to decide if an item is edible. They can smell underwater and their front legs are shovels used to tunnel. Prof Ken Catania, from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, US, did a 25-year study and said: “They are truly amazing animals.”
