Another new quiz show to test the old grey matter after lunch. New formats always make your brain hurt at first – they are complicated to explain. But all you need to know is that there are contestants, questions, a pot of cash and comedian Susan Calman as the host. The game is that in each episode, one player becomes The Boss, then has to use their judgement to pick which fellow contestants are best suited to answer the general knowledge and brain teaser puzzles. They will need to figure out everyone’s strengths and weaknesses early on if they’re to stay in charge and win money. Of course, there are opportunities to challenge them and go head to head. And at the end, there are two players left and it all comes down to loyalty. But as Susan quips: “Nice guys finish last.” It’s on every day this week. Today’s opening episode sees the first ‘Boss’ declare: “I like to be the master of my own destiny.” He’s got the trash talk, but has he got the brains?
