- BY HARRY ALLEN

LISBURN Ladies claimed runnersup spot in the Daily Mirror Lisburn Junior Invitational League under 13 Section Two play-off thanks to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Northend Youth. And they have two more chances to go one better, having already reached the Supplementary Cup final and the Under-13 Cup decider. The Ladies went ahead when Erin Mccreevy scored at the back post from a Katy Patterrson corner kick after seven minutes but the remainder of the period was evenly contested with scoring opportunities for both teams. The Ladies increased their lead early in the second half when Sophie O’rawe and Ellie-may Dickson combined down the left and Zoey Rodgers applied a great finish. Dickson, who had been involved in the second goal, went on her own to grab the third goal with a left-footed shot. Northend got a consolation goal in injury time when centre-half David Magill broke clear to score. Aferwards Ladies manager Terry Patterson said everyone played their part in the win and he hopes to pick up winning medals in at least one of the other finals to set the seal on a good season. “This is our third season in the League and it has been very beneficial to us in our summer competitions, the girls have been very successful and are Northern Ireland champions in their age group,’’ he added. Northend coach Uel Magill said they had a couple of chances early on and are disappointed although David Magill and David Mckay played well. “We are off to Blackburn in a few days so we will have a good time before trying to keep improving next season,’’ he added.
