DON’T GET CAUGHT OUT BY MAY DAY MAYHEM

THE Deep Riverrock Belfast City Marathon gets under way today and if you’re out and about enjoying your May Day Bank Holiday you’ll need to know where is affected. The event leaves City Hall at 9am and finishes in Ormeau Park. As a result, motorists can expect some disruption throughout the morning and early afternoon with the area around City Hall off limits between 6.30am and 10am. Hold ups also can be expected along the Albertbrid­ge Road, Holywood Road and Sydenham Bypass until shortly after 11am. The area surroundin­g Victoria Street will be in use by runners between 9am and 11am. And disruption can be expected around the four changeover points for the Marathon Relay event. At the first relay point at Bridge End, the road will be closed from 6am to 2pm. Hillview Road will be closed from 9am to 2 pm, while Gideon’s Green and Corporatio­n Street are closed from 6am to 3pm. Disruption also can be expected on the country-bound Antrim Road from around 9.45am to 11am. Belfast Zoo will be open as normal, with diversions in place for access. A free park and ride shuttle bus service will run between Ormeau Park and the car parks on Ormeau Avenue and Cromac Street between 10am and 4pm.
