A SILVER NIGHT AT CRYSTAL
ALL roads lead to Crystal Park this Friday night for the Marshall Cup Final. Having smashed Dollingstown in the semis, Crewe United will start as strong favourites to lift the trophy. Standing in their way are Craigavon City, who are fifth in Intermediate B. They have claimed a number of scalps on their way to this final, though, including Banbridge Rangers in the semi-final and Rathfriland in the quarters. So Crewe boss Peter Kennedy will know to underestimate them at his peril. Kick-off under the lights at Banbridge Town is 7pm. ELEVEN goals in two games have Banbridge Rangers romping to the finish line. Cheney Park was the scene of both entertaining victories for the hosts as they moved to fifth in the table. They won an absolute thriller against Tandragee Rovers last Tuesday night, eventually finishing 5-4. And that was followed up on Saturday with an impressive 6-2 win over Fivemiletown United. A win in their final Intermediate A game of the season would secure a third-place finish for the Gers. AND, so, despite the drama and stress, Dollingstown remain Intermediate A champions. A player registration row which threatened to undo their play-off bid for an instant return to the Irish League has passed over without any further action. It means they can now prepare for the two-legged play-off for the right to join the Premier Intermediate League. Their opponents will be Portstewart with dates yet to be confirmed.
