I had time of my life...

- IANHYLAND on last night’s telly

If you were still feeling sorry for Car Share’s Kayleigh Kitson at the weekend, there was some potentially good news on ITV on Saturday night. If Kayleigh was watching The Keith And Paddy Picture Show’s version of her favourite movie, Dirty Dancing, her tears of pain would have been turned into tears of joy. (Yes, I know she’s a fictitious character – but she was real to me!) On paper Keith Lemon and Paddy Mcguinness creating movie spoofs with their celebrity mates might have looked worryingly selfindulgent. On screen it was snort-out-loud funny. And I needed a good laugh having just sat through a rather flat and ad-packed episode of Britain’s Got Talent, which had ended with a woman being given four yesses simply for being 65 years old. It probably helped that I have seen Dirty Dancing at least a hundred times. (Well, if you watch Channel 5 for long enough…) I reckon Paddy and Keith’s spoof was broad enough to appeal to DD virgins though – especially Paddy’s superb head-shakin’, beer-neckin’ homage to Patrick Swayze. The acid test will be their take on blockbusters that I don’t know so well such as Ghostbusters (never seen it) and Star Wars (only the one with the Ewoks in it). With Ant & Dec, Robbie Williams and Michelle Keegan on board, I’m sure Keith and Paddy will do those movies justice. Then it’s back to the serious business of deciding what to spoof in the second series. Three words, fellas... Escape To Victory.
