POGBA’S COOL ON FIFA PROBE
PAUL POGBA has not been affected by the FIFA probe into his world-record £89.3million move to Manchester United, according to boss Jose Mourinho. FIFA have launched an investigation into the mega deal, after it was alleged the player’s agent, Mino Raiola (right), pocketed a massive £41m for his part in the transfer process. Pogba will start for United in tonight’s Europa League semifinal second leg against Spaniards Celta Vigo, with Mourinho adamant the controversy has not affected the midfielder. Mourinho was, at first, prevented from answering on Pogba’s state of mind amid the fall-out from the FIFA enquiry. But he insisted on addressing the issue. “The question is simple,” said Mourinho. “He asks the facts. No, he’s not been affected.” The probe centres around an alleged agreement between Raiola and Juventus, when Pogba left United in 2012, and whether it breaches thirdparty ownership rules. Raiola is said to have struck an agreement with Juventus, entitling him to a significant cut of any future transfer fee for Pogba that exceeded £40m. United’s willingness to pay the world-record amount ensured Raiola received nearly half of that fee, which is the issue at the centre of FIFA’S inquiry into the legitimacy of the payments made within the structure of the deal. However, if FIFA find evidence of any irregularites in the deal, United and Juventus will only face a fine of up to £11,750.
