Deise & Treaty in need of a lift

-

TWO teams that would have been hugely disappointed with League form are Waterford and Limerick. Waterford brought in a high-profile management team and are reeling after that campaign. They would have expected a lot more. The pity is that Cork would love a harder game than the Deise. Fraher Field is not the easiest place to go but anything less than a six-point victory and I’d be very surprised. It should be 10 to 12 points. The fact is that Cork will learn very little. Limerick are Munster’s Jeckyll and Hyde team. A decade ago they were fighting to join Kerry and Cork at the top table but they’re fifth in the pecking order now. They’re working hard to get it right with a committed bunch of players. They had a good finish to the League but a poor start killed them. Still, they have a chance against Clare and the 7/2 price for a Limerick win presents some good value. The air went out of Clare’s balloon after their one-point loss in Newbridge – they had been that close to promotion to Division 1. To think the same team then took on Meath and conceded 3-15 at home is not what you’d expect. But they have home advantage tomorrow and should have enough. Ultimately Clare need the win badly to gain momentum and could win by three or four points.
