£50M SILVA SPARKS A £200M CITY SPREE

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

BERNARDO SILVA has become the first signing in a £200million spending spree by Manchester City this summer. The Portugal international midfielder completed his £50m move from Monaco last night and said: “I want to win titles.” Silva, 22, will not officially become a City player until July 1 – but the deal is done as manager Pep Guardiola (above) prepares for a massive

overhaul of his squad. Silva (above) said: “I want to win titles and, with the coach and players we have, I think we can do it.” Guardiola is also keen on Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker. He has also been negotiating for Silva’s Monaco team-mate Benjamin Mendy, who can operate at leftback, and is in the market for another goalkeeper after releasing Willy Caballero. Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris is high on his wish-list.

DAVID WAGNER wants to make Aaron Mooy the most expensive signing in Huddersfield’s history – if the Terriers win Monday’s £200million shoot-out with Reading. Wagner will meet Manchester City’s £12m asking price but Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Brighton are also keen on Aussie schemer Mooy, 26.
