CAM AND SIT IN ON PUB PATROL

-

If you need a warning not to drink too much, however tough you think you are, then watch Really channel’s Cops UK: Bodycam Squad tonight. There are tears and tantrums but, thankfully, a few laughs too in this documentary series. The cameras – including the ones officers wear themselves – follow Staffordshire Police in Hanley, where the pubs and clubs are packed on a Saturday night. Not one, but two, burly men are given Section 35 notices, giving them time to go home and not return to the town centre until the next day. Unfortunately, neither of them takes their chance and both end up being arrested. In a memorable scene, one drunk says: “I want all your collar numbers. I want them put in detail why you have got me under arrest. “Am I being threatening. Am I abusive? Unarrest me now. You are **** ed. You have lost your job, you have and you have. I have not done nothing wrong.” However, both he and the second man change their tune once they are on their way to a police station before breaking down in tears. PC Lee “Tatts” Tatton tells the cameras: “There must have been something in the water that night.” He goes on: “As soon as we got the guy cuffed up he starts crying. So we have got two big lads crying who have been locked up within moments of each other.” Both men receive community resolution orders and, we reckon, very sore heads the next day. Sadly, bodycam footage used by the programme also shows some racism and abuse during the lively episode, which is well worth a watch at 9pm tonight.
