EDERSON will complete his record £35million switch to Manchester City in the next 24 hours as Pep Guardiola steps up his £300m Blues overhaul.

The Brazilian arrived in Manchester yesterday and is scheduled to undergo his medical today. His transfer from Benfica for an initial £35m will be a world record for a goalkeeper, eclipsing the £32.6m Juventus paid for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001. The 23-year-old is adept with the ball at his feet and Guardiola believes he can immediately challenge Claudio Bravo for the No.1 spot after releasing Willy Caballero last week. City lined up a deal for Ederson before he helped Benfica beat Guimaraes in the Portuguese Cup Final on Sunday. He arrives just days after City spent £43m on Portugal star Bernardo Silva from Monaco. The Blues could splash out as much as £300m this summer to easily eclipse their £170m outlay last summer – and is a clear sign of owner Sheikh Mansour’s ambition and backing for Guardiola. City are understood to want between four and six big-name signings as Guardiola (right) rebuilds his squad following his disappointing first campaign. He also wants two full-backs, a centre-half and his top target Alexis Sanchez. Guardiola is still keen on the Chile star after working with him at Barcelona. Sanchez has one year left on his contract at Arsenal and City would have to fork out around £50m to take him from the Gunners. Guardiola wants a top central defender to boost his options at the back and likes Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci or Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk. Both would cost at least £50m if either could be prised away from their clubs and City face competition from Chelsea for the pair, while Liverpool also want Van Dijk. Tottenham’s Kyle Walker is Guardiola’s preferred target at right-back. The England star is understood to be keen on a £40m switch. City have cooled their interest in Walker’s club-mate Danny Rose because they realise Spurs are highly unlikely to sell both and have switched their sights to Monaco leftback Benjamin Mendy. They have opened talks over a £38m move. Juventus’ Alex Sandro is a fall-back option. Joe Hart is on his way back to City with his future uncertain. After the final game of his loan spell, a 5-3 home victory over Sassuolo, Hart bid farewell to the Torino fans as the Serie A club cannot afford him. On Instagram he wrote: “Thank you Torino... I will come back to see you all one day so it is bye for now, enjoy an amazing summer.” Hart returns to the Etihad unsure what Guardiola has planned for him with Bravo soon to be joined by Ederson.
