WHITE HOUSE SOURCE ON DUBKE’S SHOCK EXIT

THE White House communications director has quit without explanation just three months after Donald Trump hired him.

Mike Dubke’s shock exit comes as the Russia row deepens and is likely to be the first of many in a reshuffle of the President’s senior staff. Press secretary Sean Spicer will reportedly stay on but give fewer media briefings. Dubke was drafted in to rejig media strategies after a disastrous start for the regime. He resigned on May 18 but agreed to stay on until Mr Trump returned from his foreign tour. Dubke gave few details in an email to friends, writing: “The reasons for my departure are personal.”

DISARRAY

A source said: “It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why Mike wanted out. Trump’s team is in disarray. They have been found to be lying or putting out statements that contradict facts. “The worse thing is when they say one thing and Trump throws his team under the bus by saying the opposite. Careers are being damaged.” Dubke’s exit came as it emerged Mr Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, refused to give evidence on alleged Russian election meddling to House and Senate committees. He said: “I declined, as the request was poorly phrased, overly broad and not capable of being answered.” Branding it a “fishing expedition”, he added: “They have yet to produce one single piece of credible evidence that would corroborate the Russia narrative.”
