Kids TV star in Odyssey to Heaney Homeplace
ONE of the world’s oldest tales will be given a modern twist by a Cbeebies star in Northern Ireland this weekend. Patrick Lynch, otherwise known as the presenter of hit programmes such as Razzle Dazzle and Let’s Celebrate!, is travelling to Seamus Heaney Homeplace tomorrow for a special show. In There and Back Again – An Odyssey he uses a pioneering mix of film and theatre to bring to life the whirlpools and mythic creatures that feature in Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem The Odyssey.
PERFORMANCE
The performance, which is aimed at adults and children over six, features Cyclops, the Siege of Troy, the Floating Island and the Land of the Dead. Speaking ahead of his visit to the venue in Bellaghy, Co Derry, Patrick said: “In There And Back Again – An Odyssey I control the lights, camera and action with my hands and sometimes even my feet. “With famous battles, floating islands, one-eyed giants and angry gods, this show proves that no matter how far you roam, there’s no place like Homer.” Tickets for the show are priced £5 for adults and £3 for children.
