Chancellor admits people fed up with austerity

-

THE public are “weary” of endless austerity, Philip Hammond said. The Chancellor insisted the Government was “not deaf” and “heard the message” delivered at the general election. He said they would examine again manifesto pledges and added: “We need to look at how we deal with challenges in the economy. “People are weary after years of hard work to rebuild the economy but we have to live within our means. More borrowing is not the solution. We have never said we won’t raise some taxes.” Mr Hammond then turned on Theresa May over the election, saying: “We did not talk about the economy as much we should have done.”
