Proud grandad breaks news of birth in tweet

BEYONCE has given birth to her twins, but the singer and her rapper husband Jay Z are keeping mum about the details. The star’s father Mathew Knowles, 65, confirmed the news yesterday morning, tweeting: “Happy Birthday to the twins! Love, Grandad.” Several news outlets in the US have said Beyonce, 35, gave birth last week. But as she and Jay Z, 47, have yet to make it official, the babies’ date of birth and genders are not yet known. One source said: “Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends.” Fans had been speculating for days that the singer was in labour after Beyonce’s sister Solange was spotted at the UCLA Medical Centre in LA, and security cordons were set up around the building. Jay Z also skipped the Songwriters Hall Of Fame Awards on Thursday night despite being lined up for a special honour. Beyonce has been married to Jay Z since 2008 and the couple have a five-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. Beyonce announced her pregnancy in an Instagram photo in February. She captioned the image: “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two.” It is the most-liked post in Instagram history.
