Leon Kings ready to roar

Followill legends of rock leading the way for a hot July of gigs

Did you know Kings of Leon have been together for almost 20 years? The US rockers are hitting these shores for three gigs in Dublin’s 3Arena kicking off tomorrow night. They also play Sunday July 2, and Tuesday July 4.

The Nashville foursome, made up of brothers Nathan, Caleb and Jared Followill and cousin Matthew, have been going since 1999.

But they didn’t release their debut album, Youth and Young Manhood, until 2003.

After seven albums, the four-time Grammy Award winners finally made it to No.1 in the US last year with Walls.

The album provided the band’s fifth No.1 in Ireland and the UK.

The Sex on Fire hitmakers are set to treat their Irish fans tracks from their new offering and all their big hits from the last 14 years.

Doors open at 6.30pm with support from Nathaniel Rateliff

& the Night Sweats. Kings of

Leon will take to the stage at around 8.45pm.

Meanwhile, Macy Gray is coming to Dublin tomorrow for one night only.

The Grammy award-winning singer, best known for the mega hit, I Try, plays the National

Concert Hall.

Fellow US stars Future Islands are also treating Irish fans to a mini tour taking in Limerick (July 3), Cork (July 4), Galway (July 5), and Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens on July 6. Across town, Gregory Porter kicks off the Summer Series at

Trinity College.

The line-up is also boasts

James Vincent Mcmorrow the following night on July

7, Bell X1 (July 8) and The

Pixies (July 9).

Two Door Cinema

Club (with support from

Circa Waves) will also play on

July 10, while Alt-j will round off a pretty epic slate of gigs on July 11.

tickets for Gregory Porter, James Vincent Mcmorrow, Bell X1 and Two Door Cinema Club are priced at €44.05, with tickets for Pixies and Alt-j at €54.65.
