Love Island hopefuls can display naked ambition on C4

- IANHYLAND

If you’re a Love Island fan wondering who ITV2 might be lining up for next year’s show, I suggest keeping an eye on C4’s

Naked Attraction.

Because there’s every chance some of the contestants on there are treating it like an audition for Love Island. The big difference between Naked Attraction and Love Island, of course, is that the C4 dating show is – literally – far more upfront about its main intention. It wants fit, young people to strip off on camera so that other young people can appreciate their bodies from their living rooms. Sure, there’s all sorts of stuff about body confidence, sociology and changes in grooming habits thrown in there as well. Its big selling point though remains the nudity – and C4 knows it. I’m just surprised it hasn’t been renamed this series to tie in with the channel’s current obsessions. They could have called it Oglebox or The Great British Take Off. To be fair, Naked Attraction also fulfils part of C4’s educational remit. In last night’s opener, I discovered that the Latin for nude is “in puris naturalibus” and that while British men used to prefer big breasts they now favour small, perky ones. I was also indebted to a sparkling young lady named Izzy, who explained that pansexuals are not, as I’d assumed, people who like their partners to be non-stick. They are people who don’t like to place restrictions on the people they will sleep with. See, perfect for Love Island.
