BIG-MONEY MOOY CAN BEAT DROP

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

HUDDERSFIELD have broken their transfer record to complete Aaron Mooy’s £8million signing – and are smashing it again to land Steve Mounie for £11m. Huddersfield have sealed Mooy’s permanent signing from Manchester City following his loan spell after the Aussie playmaker (above) was named their player of the year last season. But that mark will be broken when they seal Mounie’s arrival from Montpellier. French striker Mounie, 22, who scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season, has been having his medical at the club. “I’m very happy that we have signed Aaron again,” said boss David Wagner, who has put his name to a new two-year contract with the club. “Everybody knows that we agreed personal terms with Mounie, and that we have agreed with Montpellier the terms as well. “He’s having his medical and if everything goes right with that, he will be a Huddersfield player.” Wagner added that the Terriers still want Tom Ince after having a £7.2m offer rejected by Derby and are battling West Brom for Inter Milan’s Andrea Ranocchia. “We’re still in negotiations,” he said of Ince. “We’re interested in him. We will see what the future will bring.” But Wagner claimed his pal and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled out keeper Danny Ward returning on loan for a second season. Wagner is now considering Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and said: “I have spoken with Jurgen and unfortunately he made the decision that Danny Ward has to go back to Liverpool.”
