Kemp does Dallas... sadly not the best soap remake ever

- IANHYLAND

Imay have got a tad excited when someone told me Ross Kemp was going to be in Dallas on Sky1 last night. Unfortunately it turned out not to be the best soap remake ever, just the latest series of Extreme World.

Ross went to Texas to investigate growing fears that Donald Trump’s America is on the verge of a race war.

And he uncovered plenty of evidence to support his own theory that, although a full armed conflict may not be imminent, the racial divide in America appears deeper than ever. He took his time about it, though.

There was so much filler early doors I feared he had come back from a trip empty-handed for once.

One bizarre segment saw Ross re-enacting the shooting of one of the white Dallas police officers ambushed by a black ex-soldier in 2016. Issues do not come much more serious than this, so it was pretty odd to see Ross hamming around like Alan Partridge impersonating James Bond in the legendary Never Say Alan Again episode of I’m Alan Partridge.

Thankfully, following that slow start, things heated up pretty quickly as Ross spoke to people on both sides – and some of those caught in the middle.

The most shocking footage came when Ross was allowed to join a White Lives Matter protest march.

As Ross pointed out, this supposedly peaceful group was carrying more military hardware than some professional soldiers take into battle.

And, whatever their grievances, that was taking the Second Amendment way too far.
