TWO schoolchildren have been arrested over a spate of horrific acid attacks on motorbike riders.

Five drivers were targeted in the space of 72 minutes, with one describing the moment he “felt fire on my face”.

The teens approached their victims on a moped and attempted to steal their motorbikes. Two boys, aged 15 and 16, were yesterday arrested. A number of the victims are food delivery drivers, and one suffered life-changing injuries.

The suspects approached five men at busy junctions in East London on Thursday, between 10.25pm and 11.37pm. One jumped off and tried to steal the victims’ bikes, as the other sped away on the moped they arrived on.

They made away with two motorbikes, including that of Ubereats courier Jabed Hussain, 32, the first victim.

Speaking from his hospital bed, the married father-of-one said: “I had just finished work and was going home.

“I was stuck in traffic. Then, suddenly, I felt water on my face and I looked up and there were two boys on a bike. First of all, I didn’t realise it was acid, then it started to burn. I was screaming for help and for water. It was like fire on my face.

“I saw they wanted to do it again, so I jumped off my bike and tried to hide.”

Onlookers gave Mr Hussain water to help ease the burning. He messaged his fellow delivery drivers, and up to 30 of his colleagues rushed to his aid as he was treated at the roadside.

He said: “I am a normal, hard-working person, but I am not safe in London. I am scared to go out with my family.”
