I can take Command

-

I’M expecting Commander Grigio to show his true colours in today’s Group 2 Jebel Ali Silver Jubilee Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh.

As you know, I hold this colt in very high regard. And I’m hoping he can bounce back from his disappointing last-time-out run behind Beckford in the Railway Stakes.

This fellow was impressive in his maiden win at the Curragh, building on his unlucky debut run behind Beckford.

But, the last day, his lack of racing experience told against him. He travelled up well behind the leaders but, when the chips were down, his inexperience foiled him.

Commander Grigio has been in good form since that run. And Fozzy is happy with him.

I haven’t lost faith in him, despite that blip. He’s facing a tough task in another Group 2. But I’m expecting a much better run from him. Coventry Stakes fourth

looks the one to beat in the race while

Aidan O’brien is relying on a filly, And Jim

Bolger runs a winner on his debut over a mile. So today’s race should tell us plenty.

I rode

when he finished fourth to Acapulco at the Curragh three runs back. And I’m looking forward to teaming-up with him again in the Group 2 Friarstown Stud Sapphire Stakes. He ran a cracker, under a big weight, for Dylan Hogan in the Rockingham last time and is sure to run his race. But we’re up against is with in the field.

I rode her once, in Dundalk. And she’s a very good, Group 1 filly, the class-act in today’s field.

I have my first ride for Richard Fahey, in the Scurry. He looked progressive when winning at Redcar and Pontefract and running second at Chester. But he must bounce back from a flop at Newmarket.

Our two-year-old in the opener is a nice colt, has been doing things well at home and needs to get started. He’s a colt for the future. I’ll be on veteran in the seven-furlong handicap, hoping he shows some of his old sparkle.

And my three rides tomorrow include and with chances, in handicaps.

Honor Oaks produced a career best the last day, when beaten by Asking over seven furlongs. The extra furlong won’t worry her. And I’ll be hoping for a strong gallop – they went too steady the last day and I got to the front a bit earlier than planned. If things go her way tomorrow, she should be bang there again.

I’d love to win a race on Benkei, a horse I’ve ridden plenty. And he should run well under top-weight in the two-mile handicap, if he can reproduce his Tipperary form behind Tandem.
