Woman who used fake penis to trick friend into sex is jailed for 6 years

A WOMAN who duped a friend into sex by pretending to be a man and using a prosthetic penis has been jailed.

Gayle Newland, 27, told her victim, also in her 20s, to wear a blindfold whenever they met and claimed to be a half-filipino, half-latino man called Kye Fortune.

A court heard she spent two years posing as Kye after creating a “disturbingly complex” fake profile on Facebook.

Newland told her victim Kye was being treated for cancer and was paranoid about his appearance. She agreed to be blindfolded in up to 15 sexual encounters – and even while watching TV and sunbathing.

Newland was jailed for eight years in November 2015 but the conviction was quashed on the grounds that the judge’s summing up was not fair and balanced.

Following a retrial in June, she was found guilty of sexual assault by penetration.

Newland sobbed yesterday as she was sentenced at Manchester crown court.

The judge said: “This was a deceit of such subtlety and cunning in its planning and so successful in its execution an outsider unaware of the full history of the case might find it difficult to comprehend.”

Newland, of Willaston, Cheshire, got concurrent terms of six years for three counts of sexual assault in 2013. She was also handed six months for a £9,000 fraud on her ex-employer in 2014 and 2015.
