WRIGHT A WRONG

Tommy: Rosenborg will be ready for Bhoys

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

TOMMY WRIGHT reckons Rosenborg were rocked for writing off his St Johnstone side but insists there’s no chance they will take Celtic so lightly.

The Ballyclare man masterminded an historic Euro night for the Perth club as they beat the Scandinavians over two legs in 2013.

Wright (left) is certain Rosenborg paid the price for dismissing his side but it’ll be a different story when they run into Brendan Rodgers’s team next week in the Champions League third round qualifier.

The meeting has brought back happy memories for Wright, who was at Parkhead on Wednesday to see Celtic beat Linfield.

He recalled: “When I went to watch them over there I sensed they thought it was going to be a formality against St Johnstone but that certainly won’t be the case with a team like Celtic.

“When we played them there was only something like 5,000 there and that shows that maybe their supporters thought it was going to be an easy game.

“Things helped us and we used them to our advantage but Celtic v Rosenborg brings a totally different perspective.

“Brendan knows it will be a difficult tie. Celtic were expected to beat Linfield and will be expected to beat Rosenborg as well but they will be mid-season and a much tougher proposition.

“The pitch and stadium were magnificent when we played them.

“It was different for us but for Celtic, who will take a huge support over there, it will be a full house.

“The atmosphere at Parkhead and in Trondheim will be totally different from what we experienced.”
