‘Eat for one’ in pregnancy
PREGNANT women who “eat for two” risk harming their health and the baby, experts have warned.
A survey for the National Charity Partnership found 63% felt under pressure to have larger meals because of the “unhelpful” myth.
It said gorging raises the threat of pregnancy and birth complications, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Women need no extra calories in the first six months and only 200 a day more in the last three, say official guidelines.
