An insider told the Mirror: “U2 famously like to let their hair down and celebrate with friends and family after every homecoming show and Saturday night was no different.

“The place was wall to wall with famous faces who joined them to celebrate the gig. The drinks were flowing and everyone really enjoyed themselves.”

Earlier the band had thrilled 80,000 fans to a hits machine setlist playing all of The Joshua Tree alongside newer tracks such as Beautiful Day and Elevation.

Some of the Republic’s top politicians also joined Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and President Michael D Higgins at the gig.

Cabinet members Simon Coveney, Charlie Flanagan, Katherine Zappone, Paschal Donohoe and Labour Party leader Brendan Howlin were all in attendance.
