Whiteley six spree in vain

ROSS WHITELEY hit six sixes in an over – but could not prevent Worcesters­hire suffering a 37-run defeat to new Natwest T20 Blast North group leaders Yorkshire.

David Willey’s career-best 118 off 55 balls helped the Vikings post 233-6.

Whiteley smashed left-arm spinner Karl Carver over the ropes six times in the 16th over, which included a wide, before falling for 65 off 26 balls.

James Hildreth upstaged England captain Eoin Morgan as Somerset beat Middlesex. Morgan hammered 59 – but Hildreth responded with 63 from 34 balls.
