Time to pay up

HEARTLESS Tories continuing to deny our dedicated public servants a proper pay rise should reflect on the £11billion of unpaid overtime they do every year.

Our maternity units, hospitals and social services simply could not cope without midwives, nurses and social workers effectively working for free.

This is the true price of Tory austerity – nearly two million workers putting in an extra eight hours a week because they care.

Yet the Chancellor thinks they are overpaid. Compare these public sector heroes with our MPS, who this year pocketed a £1,000 wage hike and today start the first full week of their six-week summer holiday. It’s no comparison.
