AN NHS expansion plan for mental health services will see thousands of new posts created, the Government has said.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said the aim was to treat an extra one million people by 2021.

He said: “As we embark on one of the biggest expansions of mental health services in Europe it is crucial we have the right people in post.

“That’s why we’re supporting those already in the profession to stay and giving incentives to those considering a career in mental health.”

Mr Hunt added the £1.3billion drive will provide services seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and properly integrate mental and physical health services for the first time.

However, the Royal College of Nursing questioned whether enough people could be trained in such time, and if there were the resources to do so.

RCN chief Janet Davies said: “There is already a dangerous lack of workforce planning and accountability and this report is unable to provide detail on how the ambitions will be met.”

The Health Department claimed the number of staff will be “dramatically” increased by 21,000 under the plan. A LITTLE girl who was reported missing is believed to be in Ireland.

Molly Owens, five, from Holyhead, Wales, is thought to be with her wanted father who skipped a court appearance on Friday.

Police said following extensive enquiries officers now believe Molly and her dad Brian Owens are in the Republic.

They also think the pair are in the company of a 31-year-old woman.

Supt Jane Banham of North Wales Police said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we are still appealing for information from anybody who may have been in contact with Brian Owens to get in touch with us.

“From our enquiries we believe they are in the Republic of Ireland with a woman by the name of Elaine Doutch, and we are in close contact with our colleagues at the Garda who are assisting us.

“We just want to ensure that Molly is safe and well and are issuing a direct appeal for her to be returned home.”

North Wales Police said 26-year-old Owens was due to be sentenced by magistrates in Caernarfon on Friday but failed to appear.

Police have not disclosed the nature of his offence. He has short brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white top, dark trousers and trainers and is carrying a blue jacket.

Doutch is described as wearing a black top, grey cardigan, dark trousers and white trainers.

Anybody with information is asked to contact North Wales Police or any

Garda station.
