Limato is ready to rumble in Lennox

- BY NEWSBOY

LIMATO stands out in the Group 2 Qatar Lennox Stakes (3.00) at Glorious Goodwood this afternoon.

Henry Candy’s fiveyear-old is just at home over today’s sevenfurlong trip as at six — he proved as much last October when adding the Prix de la Forêt at Chantilly to his success in the July Cup at Newmarket in midsummer.

Although he’s without a victory in three starts in 2017, Limato has still made the podium in Group 1 events - the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the July Cup at Newmarket on his most recent two outings.

Harry Bentley’s mount was strong at the finish a length-and-a-quarter second to Harry Angel on the latter occasion, and the drying ground conditions will aid Limato’s bid to go one better.

The trainer will walk the course this morning before giving Limato the green light to run.

Candy said: “He will only run in the ground is suitable. He’s in tremendous form.”

Librisa Breeze has a decent chance. The grey has won two valuable pots over this distance at Ascot last season and will relish a return to seven furlongs after two defeats racing over six.

After a taking debut score at Newbury in June, EXPERT EYE is fancied to remain unbeaten by capturing the Group 2 Qatar Vintage Stakes (2.25).

In common with many Sir Michael Stoute firsttimers, the son of Acclamation looked in need of the experience and has plenty of untapped potential.

Top weight WHAT ABOUT CARLO gets the vote in the opening Matchbook Betting Exchange Handicap (1.50) after a last-time-out score in Listed company at Newbury.
