I fought killer dogs for 40 minutes as they tore my arms apart... I played dead to survive BRAVE MUM
Victim tells how she battled to live for daughter’s sake
other bit my leg – then they put me on the floor and played with me.
“One dog would drag me one way, the other another way. I’m 5ft 4in and only about 9st 4oz. I was like a toy to them.” She had started her job just two days earlier, when boss Nijamul Islam said the dogs were “friendly” and she should just shout and push them back into the cages if they broke loose.
She did not know he had been banned from keeping animals two years earlier and had no right to run the compound he rented at a farm in Great Amwell, Herts. For 10 minutes she had to fight both dogs, which broke her arms before the German shepherd left the Belgian attacking her.
Polish-born Beata knew she had to survive for the sake of her seven-year-old daughter and did “whatever came into my mind” to stay alive.
She picked up a stone but, with both arms broken and with severely injured hands, she could not hit hard enough.
“I tried everything, I hit him, stroked him, kissed him, and even bit him on the nose when he had my hand. Nothing affected him, there was that much power,” she said. “I didn’t feel the pain during it, I just thought about my daughter and that I had to survive.” Seeing her finger hanging by its skin on her right hand, Beata gave the crazed animal her left arm to devour instead. She called out for help and even cried out for her mum, who lives in Poland. “I was very close to dying. They wanted to kill me,” she said.
Running out of ideas and exhausted from the fight, Beata eventually laid face down and played dead.
She said: “I was so tired, fighting for 40 minutes. I just laid down and thought ‘whatever will happen will happen’.” After around five minutes the Belgian shepherd left her on the floor and went off to drink from a puddle. Beata crawled into a barn but
