13-year-old boy ‘told girl he would rape and kill her’

- BY ALAN ERWIN

A 13-YEAR-OLD boy allegedly threatened to rape and kill a schoolgirl as part of a campaign of unwanted sexual advances, a court heard yesterday.

Prosecution lawyers also claimed he exposed himself and simulated other acts in front of her during a series of incidents at a children’s home in Northern Ireland.

It was alleged on one occasion he lifted a knife and spoke about carrying out a stabbing.

Details emerged as the accused, who cannot be identified because of his age, was granted bail.

He faces charges of harassment, indecent exposure, threats to kill, being a non-adult engaged in a sexual act in the presence of a child, and inciting a child to sexual activity.

The High Court heard the girl, 15, said he had made lewd, sexual remarks and placed handwritten letters under her door.

Prosecution lawyer Kate Mckay contended: “The content included threatening to rape her and sexually assault her.”

The accused allegedly continued his sexualised behaviour after being moved to another home where all other residents are boys.

Granting bail, Mr Justice Maguire ordered him to comply with the rules of the home he is to return to.

He said his future might lie else outside Northern Ireland “if there are not suitable facilities here”.
