I had to fund shipping the set overseas with my credit card, I prayed we would make money to pay it off...
Mrs Brown’s Boys star Fiona tells of struggle
touring years ago before the BBC, there were weeks when we didn’t get paid, there was no money there.
“Not just weeks, there were months that went by when we were paying our own expenses.
“I personally had to fund to get the set shipped overseas and I had to stick it on my credit card because nobody had a penny and I was praying to God that in a month’s time I might make some money to pay off my credit card bill.
“When the going is good it’s great but you have to remember there are rainy days in this industry.
“When you get a great gig all of a sudden you’re in the paper and everyone’s like, ‘They’re loaded’, but in a matter of months you’re out of a gig and nobody knows that. It’s a very fickle industry that has its ups and downs so that’s why we’re so grateful we do what we do when it’s going well.
“After going through what we went through over the years and the amount of lows that came our way, I don’t worry too much anymore because it’s given me a stronger belief in who we are. I think no matter what you do in life if you work hard I think you’ll always be OK.”
Fiona confirmed the show is going from strength to strength with a second series of All Round To Mrs Brown’s commissioned and talk of a sequel to the film.
She said: “Dad really wants to do a second movie but to date our hectic touring schedule and filming the Christmas special means we don’t have the time and the funds aren’t there yet.”
Last month Rory Cowan – who played Mrs Brown’s son Rory – sensationally quit the show that made him famous, revealing he was “bored” and touring was “a chore”.
But Fiona revealed there’s no bitterness between her family and the actor.
