Jay is Wanted... by C4’s hunters

STRICTLY champ Jay Mcguiness is not the kind of person you have in mind when you think of a fugitive.

But the Wanted singer and a group of other TV stars with winning smiles are to appear in a celebrity special of Channel 4’s reality show Hunted.

The teams, chased by former police officers, include Gogglebox favourites Steph and Dom Parker.

Swivel-hipped Jay, who was partnered on Hunted by Wanted bandmate Siva Kaneswaran, reckons his moves impressed as much as when he won Strictly in 2015 alongside Aliona Vilani. Jay said: “We spent a couple of weeks on the run – hiding in people’s gardens in the Highlands of Scotland.

“There were four groups. We gave them a run for their money and went pretty far.

“We went to new lows to get away from those guys, running from police and CCTV and all that.”

Broadcaster Anneka Rice and Made in Chelsea stars Spencer Matthews and Jamie Laing also feature in the Stand Up To Cancer special of Hunted. Contestants are tracked down through a variety of methods including phone records, house searches and a special bank account set up for use during the show.

A third series is being made, as well as the celeb special, which is due on air in October.

Teams that evade capture win a big cash prize.

Jay, 27 – who is on a UK theatre tour with the Rip It Up production, alongside 2012 Strictly winner Louis Smith and pro dancer Natalie Lowe – is looking forward to seeing this year’s batch of Strictly celebs find their feet.

He said: “I know how the new contestants starting on their journey will feel from show one.

“You have to make the most of every moment.”
