TRIBUTES have been paid to a teenager who died suddenly at the weekend.

Police are investigating the death of Emma Doogan, 19, in the Meelmore Drive area of Omagh, Co Tyrone, on Saturday.

In a statement yesterday, the PSNI said: “Police have charged a 24-year-old man with a number of drugs offences.

“He is due to appear at Enniskillen Magistrates Court [today].”

Widespread tributes were paid online to the former Sacred Heart College student.

One friend said: “You always brightened up a room when you walked in.”

Another added: “You were an absolute star, you never failed to put a smile on my face or make me laugh.”

SDLP MLA Daniel Mccrossan told the Mirror: “Social media has been a wave of emotion, shock and sadness with the news of the death of Emma.

“From the many comments I’ve witnessed, she seems a very popular, outgoing, friendly and full of life young woman. Truly a great loss to the family, friends and wider community.

“My thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies go out to the family of this teenager whose life was tragically taken far too early. The PSNI are currently investigating

“I’d encourage anyone who has any information to come forward to the PSNI and share any information that they may have.” UUP Councillor Chris Smyth added: “I’d like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.

“Obviously details are sketchy at the moment but if anyone has any information that they feel is relevant to the death I would urge them to inform the police immediately.”

Police are continuing to appeal for information.

Detective Constable Una Mckenna added: “We know drugs are a real concern for local communities and we understand the misery they can cause to communities, families and to those who get involved in taking them.

“I would continue to appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to illegal drugs, to contact local police on the non-emergency number 101.”
