achievements to make this season. Coming to Warrenpoint, I knew what I was signing up for and I know what kind of challenge lies ahead after being with Carrick, it’s going to be a tough season but sure, that’s my type of game.

“I like playing in tough games and being under a bit of pressure. Most of my time at Linfield, we always had possession of the ball and we were always winning games so it was a bit of an eye- opener last year at Carrick, not having that every week.

“But for me it was enjoyable and this summer it was good to put pen to paper and get a permanent move to another club where I can now try to push on and try to do better things.”

Warrenpoint held off competition from the likes of Coleraine, Portadown, Ballinamallard and even Glentoran for Murray’s signature, with the midfielder eventually swayed by his friendship with Tipton. “I’m just glad to get settled in a team where I’m not out on loan or going back to a club and chopping and changing, this is a permanent move for me and it’s something I need to build on now for my own career,” he said.

“I want to get as many games now under my belt as possible and try and push on as much as I can and try to help Warrenpoint as much as I can. It was a busy period for me at the start of the transfer window, there were a few clubs interested in me and obviously I was speaking to Tippy as well and it seemed the most appealing move for me at the time, obviously because I knew him from being at Linfield.

“I thought it would be a good move because having played with him, I thought it would be good to play under him as well, he taught me a lot of things when I was at Linfield so it will be another learning curve for me.”
